Yoga, Meditation And Pranayama
Yoga means Union – Union of the Mind, the Body, and the Spirit — between man and nature. Yoga can make you more mobile, feel better, and stay active in your mind and body, which helps as you age. Yoga promotes better mental health and helps relieve anxiety, depression, and stress.
There is science to back this up as well! Before we talk about the science, let’s talk about stress. We believe there are a few reasons why there is so must stress and tension in our world. No one has been taught how to be resilient and prepare for the next disaster. We need to learn how to strengthen or build resilience into our systems so when the next stressor hits, we can deal with it. The reason we gravitated toward Yoga, Meditation, and Pranayama boils down to stress.
Think about it – stress — already a major problem before COVID — has been magnified a hundred times by the pandemic. In these past years, we’ve all been under a considerable amount of stress, mentally, physically, and emotionally. Actually, if you think about it, anxiety is a fairly reasonable and appropriate response to the stress we’ve had to deal with. How do you cope with stress?
We found that our students needed a way to deal with stress and the anxiety. We needed to teach people how to associate your breath with each pose, and how in our meditation practice we can become aware of our breath and use it as a tool to help keep our bodies resilient, make that mind – body connection. We teach students how to find balance -on and off the mat – how to unwind – how to unplug – how to unravel yourself – and how to reset yourself. All this is critical to our health – mentally, physically, and yes, spiritually.
Let’s talk about the science behind the damage that stress causes — Stress affects the body and mind, and can cause chronic illness. Stress can also cause obesity which also causes chronic illness
